Mallam Abubakar Bobboyi Jijiwa was born on March 15, 1961 in Fufore,Adamawa State,Nigeria. He holds a B.Sc. degree in Accountancy and numerous other professional qualifications in broadcasting, management and accountancy.

He began his career in 1977 as a Junior Producer in Gongola Broadcasting Corporation (GBC), Yola and has traversed the entire media landscape ofNigeria– print, broadcast and news agency. His professional career has taken him successively through strategic political, media, administrative and accounting appointments.

In 1993, Mallam Jijiwa joined Voice of Nigeria as Director, Finance & Supplies. He later served two-term tenure as Commissioner of Finance, Economic Planning & Budget in the Adamawa State Government of Nigeria and subsequently returned to VON as Director, Administration & Finance, Ag. Director-General and in March 2005, he was appointed substantive D-G/CEO.

He served as Chairman of various non-governmental organisations and has headed several Special Committees and Delegations inNigeria and abroad. He is currently the Chairman, Broadcasting Organisations of Nigeria [BON], an umbrella Union of over 250 electronic media establishments inNigeriaand has just handed over the Presidency of the Commonwealth Broadcasting Association after four years in office.

Mallam Jijiwa who is widely travelled, is a scholar, author, a newspaper columnist, enjoys sports, research, photography and reading for leisure. He is happily married with children.
