Gillian Rose is Managing Director of PBS Distribution based in Boston. The company, owned jointly by PBS and WGBH, invests in and exploits home entertainment rights to series as diverse as Downton Abbey and the upcoming Wolf Hall to Ken Burns’ documentaries, arts and children’s shows.
Before joining PBSD in 2013, she worked for New York PBS station WNET where she held a number of positions including Head of Distribution and Executive in Charge of Lifestyle Programming. Prior to WNET she worked for the Australian Broadcasting Corporation and Carlton Television. She started her career as a journalist writing about television.
Ms. Rose was Chair of BAFTA New York for two consecutive terms and former Co-Chair of the International Emmy Awards Committee. She is also President of The Rosemary Pencil Foundation, a non-profit that works in SE Africa, and sits on the Board of Children in the Wilderness in Malawi.
She has a Master’s degree in Communication for Development.
