Gary Stevens

Gary Stevens was a member of the full-time and then casual staff of the BBC for more than 20 years. Based chiefly at BBC World Service, he first worked in the newsrooms as a studio manager and, later, on all aspects of radio production and presentation, specialising in educational radio features, and leading radio and online educational projects in Beijing and Cairo.

Gary joined the journalism staff at the University of Lincoln (UK) in 2005 where he teaches courses at all levels including radio and multiplatform news production. He is programme leader for the suite of MA Journalism programmes, and has recently completed doctoral studies focusing on science journalism education. Gary has acted as external examiner for undergraduate and postgraduate journalism programmes at the Dublin Institute of Technology, and is a grand jury member for the New York Festivals Radio Awards.
