The 2010 AIBs

In 2010, the AIBs – the international media excellence awards – once again celebrated creativity and rewarded success in factual programming. These awards – then in their sixth year – are unique in the field of international media.

The AIBs offer both peer and external review of entries and are also independent of any commercial influence. The AIBs are highly respected in the international TV and radio industry. This is reflected in the large number of high quality entries that are submitted by broadcasters and independent production houses on every continent. These companies recognise that winning an AIB is an important – and rare – accolade.

The 2010 AIBs were presented during a gala evening at LSO St Luke’s in London on 9 November. We returned to this stunning venue due to overwhelming positive feedback from last year’s guests.

Details of all winners and commended entries can be found in our press release – “AIB announces winners of 2010 AIBs, international media awards

Order the two-disc DVD of the 2010 AIBs that includes all the shortlisted entries as seen and heard by the international guests at the awards evening, plus all the winners receiving their awards.

In 2011 we are continuing the major promotional drive started in 2010 to bring the AIBs to the attention of even more broadcasters and production companies in all parts of the world than ever before. The AIB is committed to confirming its international media excellence awards as the leading cross-media, cross-border, cross-cultural celebration of success.

“Receiving an AIB award for Hambani Makwerekwere was one of my proudest moments. For this to be recognised by my peers from around the world is the highest accolade I could have hoped for this programme. The evening went beyond simply meeting fellow journalists. The pressure of work and deadlines means that in the world of current affairs, there is seldom the chance to look further than one’s immediate environment, be it your chosen field of expertise or the region you cover. The AIBs provided a rare occasion to share ideas and insights from across the globe, awaken curiosity and glimpse the vast array of skills and technology feeding the international media.” Sasha Wales-Smith, Producer, SABC, South Africa
