Tom Porter is a Commissioning Editor in News and Current Affairs at Channel 4.  The Department commissions Dispatches, Unreported World, C4 News and a number of hour-long specials.  Tom’s Dispatches commissions include the Bafta, Rory Peck, Grierson and RTS-winning ‘Syria: Across the Lines’, Ben Steele’s ‘Hunted’ film about gays in Russia and the Bafta-nominated ‘North Korea: Life Inside the Secret State’.  Tom is also the commissioner responsible for canine hit ‘Dogs: Their Secret Lives’ and ‘Mayday: The Passenger Who Landed a Plane’.

Tom was previously an Executive Producer and Series Producer at Ten Alps’ company Blakeway Productions with responsibility for its Dispatches slate and other current affairs strands.  Before that he was a freelance P/D for C4, Sky, BBC and ITV, working across the indie sector.
