Vekeana Dhillon

Recently a jurist for Asian Academy Creative Awards, Vekeana Dhillon is an experienced Screenwriter and Series Creator. As Creator-in-Chief at The Foundry, she’s developing original IP series, animation and films for OTT platforms and broadcasters. She’s had five feature films produced and released internationally including award-winning Kisaan and cult classic I- Proud to be an Indian.

 She created and wrote a semi-autobiographical fiction podcast Uncovidable for Audible. Vekeana has written Virat Kohli’s superhero series Super V (2019) for Disney+, Hotstar and Star TV Network, the highest rated show in its animation bracket in India.

 She’s a former Star Network’s Channel [V] VJ. She’s reported for BBC World Radio, it’s General News Service and the BBC Asian News Network. She’s appeared in multiple commercials and is featured in Bollywood Bound; a Gemini Award nominated National Film Board of Canada’s documentary feature film. She’s written Wizcraft International’s Musical, Balle Balle which has completed its successful run in 2018.

She’s proud to be acknowledged as one of Telefilm Canada’s Premiere Writers. She was nominated for The Women’s International Film & Television Showcase Foundation Jury Award which recognizes women for their dedication to their craft across cultural divides.
