Ali Lycett

Ali Lycett is the Head of Production at Candour Productions in Leeds.

Most recently, Candour won a BAFTA in 2023 for Best Factual Series with Libby, are you home yet?; was nominated for Best Small Indie at the Edinburgh TV Festival Awards 2023 and in 2024 was on the Winners’ List for Broadcast Best Places to Work in TV. This year Candour produced the very well received Documentary series   ‘The Push’ for Channel 4.

Having started her career in television over 25 years ago Ali has delivered hundreds of hours of television for all major broadcasters across a wide range of genres, leading with factual, documentary and overseas current affairs. She is also an award-winning short film producer. Her experience ranges from filming on location in Central Sudan and Ethiopia for WaterAid to making short Arts films for galleries and exhibition spaces.

Ali is passionate about providing film and broadcast opportunities to the next wave of production talent and to under-represented areas of the community. She is an industry mentor,  a visiting lecturer at Leeds Trinity University and York University and is a Senior lecturer at Leeds Beckett University specialising on documentary production.
