Carter founded Britain’s Shorts International in 2000.  Coming from a background in both investment banking and law, Carter and his team have built Shorts International into the world’s leading short movie Entertainment Company, functioning as distributor, broadcaster and producer. With a catalogue of over 3000 short movies, Shorts International represents every genre across multiple platforms. Catalogue titles include past OscarÒ winners and nominees, festival favourites and revered classics. Through theatrical distribution efforts, the company brings the annual theatrical release of The OscarÒ Nominated Short Films to theatres across the US and Canada. The event is now a firm fixture in the release schedules and in 2014, grossed over $2.3 million at the US box office – a 13% increase from the previous year—and ranking it at 19th in terms of US box office for all limited release films in the USA in 2014.

Before launching Shorts International, Carter worked in Eastern European/Middle Eastern market origination and corporate finance for Bankers Trust, a leading US investment bank that followed his work as the legislative director and chief counsel for U.S. Senator Hank Brown.

 

Carter, originally from Terre Haute, Indiana, received a B.S. from the U.S. Air Force Academy, a J.D. from Georgetown University, is a member of the New York Bar and attended the London Business School Corporate Finance Evening Program.
