Cherry Salazar
Cherry Salazar has over a decade of experience in investigative data and multimedia journalism in the Philippines. She previously served as the sole multimedia reporter at the nonprofit Philippine Center for Investigative Journalism, where she covered energy transition, campaign finance, and press freedom issues.
She also produced television documentaries for ABS-CBN, the Philippines’ largest media network until it was forced off the air by the Duterte administration in 2020. Her work has received multiple international and domestic awards, including the country’s first Cannes Gold Dolphin for a documentary on the Marawi siege, a months-long armed conflict involving Islamic State-linked groups in southern Philippines.
In 2022, Cherry was invited by the U.S. State Department to participate in the Edward R. Murrow Program for Journalists, a part of its premier professional exchange program, the International Visitor Leadership Program. She was also recently featured in the Global Investigative Journalism Network’s guide on investigative reporting.
