Claire Cunningham

Claire Cunningham is an Irish independent radio producer. She has made dozens of arts- and culture-related radio documentaries for Ireland’s national classical music and arts station RTÉ lyric fm, as well as programmes for BBC Radio 4 and BBC Radio 3. She produced the weekly Poetry Programme on RTÉ Radio 1 for eight years and has also made programmes for  RTÉjr Radio and national and regional independent stations. Her work has been awarded gold, silver (twice) and bronze (twice) at the New York Festivals Radio Awards and has been shortlisted for the Prix Marulic and the PPI/IMRO Radio Awards.

 Many of her programmes have highlighted the achievements of writers and composers of the past whose work has been overlooked. She has collaborated on a number of occasions with academics to bring their research in an engaging and accessible way to a new, general audience outside the world of academia.

 She is a former Chair of the Association of Independent Radio Producers of Ireland (AIRPI) and has also worked as Producer/Director on arts and educational TV programming.
