Clara Dominguez

As the Director of Partnerships and Strategic Initiatives, Clara Dominguez develops partnerships with other organizations to build relationships and projects on journalism and audience development that further the vision and mission of Voice of America.

Prior to June 2022, she was the Director of the Latin America Division and oversaw broadcasts to Haiti and the Spanish-speaking countries of the Americas over radio, television and web. Previously, Dominguez was Managing Editor of VOA’s multi-platform News Center, where she led teams of journalists worldwide covering U.S. and international news.

Dominguez began her career with VOA in 2010 as Managing Editor of the Latin America division and later Director of the division (2013). Prior to joining VOA, she serve as News Director at the Office of Cuba Broadcasting in Miami, Florida.

In the past few years she has published on several topics including the evolving role of social media and the threats to freedom of the press in Latin America, as well as the Hispanic vote in U.S. elections. She is engaged in a number of journalism organizations, including the News Leaders Association, the National Association of Hispanic Journalists and the InterAmerican Press Association. A native of Havana, Cuba, Dominguez has a master’s degree in international affairs from George Washington University and a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Miami’s School of Business.
