Helen Shaw
Helen Shaw is Managing Director of Athena Media an award winning digital content and storytelling company based in Ireland. She has worked as journalist with The Irish Times, a producer with Irish public broadcasting RTÉ and a news and current affairs editor with BBC Northern Ireland. She was Head of Radio, RTÉ 1997-2002 and led the digital transformation of RTÉ radio and the launch of RTÉ lyric fm, Ireland’s 5th national radio channel. She set up Athena Media in 2004 and has created factual programming and documentaries in both TV and radio. She is a member of the Advisory Board and the jury of the New York Radio Awards and has served as a jury member of the Celtic Media Awards. She won six gold and the grand trophy award for her own work in the New York Radio Awards and two Celtic Media Torcs.
Helen holds a BA and MA from University College Dublin, she was a research fellow at Harvard University at the Weatherhead Centre and she has recently been awarded a 1st class MSc in Climate Change, Policy, Media and Society from Dublin City University. She is an accomplished writer and podcaster and is currently working with DCU on climate literacy and climate public engagement resources
