The Olympic and Paralympic games which were held in London between July and September 2012 created huge spectator interest with 4 billion people estimated to have watched the Paralympics and nearer to 5 billion the Olympic games. The spectator appetite for the action, reviews and background stories, for instand updates and for detailed analysis, has been fed by an unprecedented level of coverage by international broadcasters, in terms of manpower, scheduling and technology.
The games have seen innovative use of 3D, of choice of coverage, of access on multiple screens. This is celebrated in the AIBs special category “Best Coverage of London 2012”. This category had a special extended deadline of September 20th to allow time for broadcasters to prepare their entries after the games.
But TV broadcasters who want to enter the category must now hurry since the closing deadline is now only 2 days away.
