Nowadays finance is truly global – international markets affect governments, businesses and consumers all over the world as the banking crisis of 2008-9 reminded us. Governments rely on international markets for their borrowing, more and more companies trade internationally and consumers see the rates they pay for their savings and loans influenced by banks and financial markets across the world.
It is to reflect and celebrate the increasing volume, importance and quality of international financial broadcasting that the AIBs include this year for the first time a business TV category, “Best financial programme or financial coverage”. The winner will be the programme or series of programmes that best informs its audience about one particular aspect of finance with in-depth coverage, or gives an overview of some broader financial topic enabling viewers to understand the overall significance.
