David Astley is Executive Chairman of the Asia-Pacific Media Alliance for Social Awareness (‘The Media Alliance’), a Singapore-based media and advertising industry-led initiative for building public awareness on social development issues and achieving behaviour change. Before joining The Media Alliance in 2010, Mr Astley was Secretary-General of the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU) for eight years. Prior to his appointment to the ABU, he was Director of Business Development for the Malaysian-based satellite pay-TV operator, ASTRO, and before that held senior management positions in terrestrial broadcasting inAustralia, including 17 years as CEO of regional television networks. Earlier in his career he worked as a print journalist and magazine editor.
