Kate Pearson

Kate possesses more than 25 years’ experience in programming and acquisitions in domestic and international content. She was Senior Vice President of Programming and Acquisitions at the Emmy® Award-winning Documentary Channel, and earlier spent eight years at HBO Latin America where she sourced and acquired content for six digiplex channels. She began her career at CNN Headline News as a video journalist.
In her roles at HBO and Documentary Channel and currently at MPT, Kate has served on many juries and panels for documentary film festivals. She is inspired by working with aspiring filmmakers and independent producers who want to understand the world of broadcast platforms and distribution opportunities. 
In her current role as Managing Director of Programming and Acquisitions, she oversees a team of schedulers and acquisitions staff for the PBS member station near Washington DC,  Maryland Public Television. Kate lives in Maryland, and when she is not watching documentaries, she is watching international dramas and mysteries or spending time outdoors. 
 
She holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Emory University and a Masters in Spanish Language and Literature from the Middlebury College program in Madrid.
