Kingsley Uranta

Kingsley Datubor Igoni Uranta is from Queenstown Opobo Kingdom. He is currently the Assistant General Manager Operations of Channels Television, Lagos Nigeria with the sole responsibility of driving strategy/innovation, partnership, training, and corporate communications. Kingsley is also the provost of Channels Academy, a high breed media training institute set up by Channels Television to provide training for journalists and the larger society. He has a robust career in communication spanning over 25 years in a variety of functional and managerial roles including Broadcast Media Management, Corporate Communication & Engagement, Journalism Training and Television Production.

He was the first staff of Channels Television to be employed in 1992. He eminently helped to develop the station’s operational standards and professionalism. He rose to the position of Editor, Chief Correspondent, Controller News and Anchor. By 1996, Kingsley’s peculiar reporting style won him the Nigeria Media Merit Award as Best Television Reporter. He was a member of the first generation of African Journalists to contribute to the CNN World Report in the early years of Cable News Network.

Kingsley is fiercely committed to the development of media practitioners and the protection of the ethos of the profession and has represented the industry he so much loves on the global stage including speaking on The Media, Misinformation, Disinformation and Malinformation at the media event of the United Nations General Assembly in New York and the Global Media Forum in Bonn.

Kingsley is an alumnus of the International Visitors Leadership Programme of the US Department of State.
