KINGSLEY DATUBOR URANTA
Kingsley Datubor Uranta is a distinguished media executive, editor, media trainer, and newsroom leader with nearly three decades of experience in broadcast journalism, media development, and institutional leadership. Since 1995, he has built an influential career defined by strategic vision, professional excellence, and a strong commitment to advancing media practice in Nigeria and beyond.
He rose through senior leadership ranks at Channels Television, serving as Assistant General Manager of Operations, where he played a central role in driving strategic innovation, strengthening corporate communications, forging high-level partnerships, and overseeing newsroom training and capacity-building initiatives. His leadership and deep operational insight consistently contributed to organizational growth and transformation.
These contributions culminated in his appointment as General Manager of Channels Television and Channels Academy, an award-winning center of excellence for journalism training and professional development across Africa. Under his leadership, Channels Academy has become a defining pillar of the network’s legacy in media education.
Kingsley is an alumnus of the United States Department of State’s International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP). A seasoned author and thought leader, Kingsley co-authored a chapter in Nigerian Media Industries in the Era of Globalisation, contributing scholarly insights into media production and globalization. Kingsley is actively engaged in community service, supporting TAF Africa, an advocacy organization for persons with disabilities, and serving as Executive Director of the One Million Tree Group, promoting environmental sustainability through awareness and tree-planting initiatives.
