Credit: Stephanie Berger/ PBS.Marie Nelson is a multi-platform programming executive and content strategist with experience in public media, broadcast network and cable organizations. At PBS, she serves as Vice President of News, Public Affairs & Documentary and oversees the production and programming of national primetime series and specials and works to develop and direct innovative approaches to engage audiences.

 

Prior to joining PBS, Nelson was the Vice President of News & Original Programming for Viacom and BET Networks, where she oversaw a range of cross-platform initiatives. She also served as the founding executive producer for National Public Radio’s daily news show, “Tell Me More,” and as a producer for “Nightline” with Ted Koppel and “World News Tonight” at ABC News. Nelson has also served in senior foreign policy appointments in the Clinton and Obama Administrations.
