She is notable for obtaining an exclusive ‘proof of life’ video in April 2016, that showed that the missing Nigerian Chibok schoolgirls were still alive, which ultimately led to the release of over 100 missing schoolgirls. Her relentless pursuit of this story earned her a Gracie Award and recognition as an Outstanding Woman in the Media.

Stephanie’s contributions to journalism have not gone unnoticed. In 2017, the United Nations named her one of the 100 Most Influential People of African descent. Furthermore, she has been recognized as one of the 25 most powerful female journalists in Africa for consecutive years from 2020 to 2023.
