Tim Awford is Deputy Head of BBC News Arabic, leading a multiple award-winning documentaries and investigations team, weekly programmes and the digital video unit.   Tim has many years of experience in international news, previously working with the BBC News at Ten, BBC World News and the BBC News Channel.  He led output for BBC TV News on the death of Nelson Mandela and after the killing of Osama bin Laden produced the first live broadcast outside the compound.  He used to edit Outside Source at BBC World News and has launched multiple programmes and formats including the very successful Trending at BBC News Arabic and BBC World’s Global with Jon Sopel.  He has championed new story-telling forms using tools like photogrammetry, gaming technology and 360 filming to produce innovative interactive journalism.  He has developed a new investigations unit, with Open Source journalism skills at BBC News Arabic.
