Tim Awford is BBC Regional Director for South Asia, the BBC’s largest region by audience, in charge of content across all media in 13 languages. He built and led one of the BBC’s most successful investigations teams, now part of BBC Eye Investigations, winning multiple international awards, including RTS and Emmys. He has worked on open source and transparency journalism for a decade setting up digital forensics teams in three different regions. He led TV Channels and Streaming operations across BBC Global News, has been a Deputy Editor of BBC Newsnight and worked on other flagship programmes like BBC News at Ten and BBC Hardtalk. He has covered wars, protests and upheaval in the Middle East and South Asia, including Afghanistan and Pakistan, where he led the first international team broadcasting from outside Osama bin Laden’s compound.
