Uzonna Ononye

In the past 25 years, Uzonna has worked through the ranks of the broadcast industry; research, production, presentation, reporting and editing.  The journey which began in March 2001, went from Minaj Broadcast International to Silverbird Television, News Central Television, and now, TVC News where he is responsible for the entire operations of the newsroom in Nigeria’s foremost news channel.

While on this journey, his personal belief that “the stagnant water is always the dirtiest” always propelled his continuous search for capacity development. Nigeria’s National Broadcast Academy, Pan Atlantic University and Nigeria Institute of Journalism, provided the platform for knowledge and capacity building.

During his reporting days, he covered a few international assignments:

United Nations General Assembly, September 2013.
US General Election, November 2016

Uzonna is a member of the elite professional body for news editors, the Nigerian Guild of Editors and the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations.

His first novel was published in 2010.

He has received several awards with the most prominent being the 2024 Excellence in Media Leadership and Ethical Broadcasting Award.

Uzonna was born to the Ononye family from Obosi in Anambra state of Nigeria. He holds a Post Graduate degree in Broadcasting.  Resident in Lagos, he is married and blessed with children.
